There are a huge number of pockets on the Osprey, with a zipped valuables/sunglasses pocket at the top, two huge stretch mesh side pockets for whatever you want to stick in them, plus a roomy and versatile front patch pocket which fastens with the pack’s upper compression straps, making it ideal for storage of all sorts of bits and pieces like a waterproof jacket or fleece when not in use. I also thought that the suspended mesh backpanel worked really well, stopping my back from getting too hot. Designed for a comfortable, highly-ventilated carry, Osprey's Hikelite 26L Rucksack is ideal for day hikes.

International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions. Dual upper-side compression straps feature trekking pole capture and cinch dead space around the top of the pack, while dual lower compression straps provide additional load control nearer the base. It lives up to its name and is incredibly light, yet has all the features you could wish for from a daypack. It's incredibly durable, offers a supportive, comfortable fit and is even versatile enough to use for casual errands in town or days out with the kids. Sustainably made, the Hikelite's main body fabrics are Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified and bluesign approved. My usual water flask kept falling out until I devised a way of attaching it to the top straps of the bag to keep it in place.

Ed hikes and camps regularly in the Mourne Mountains, finding it the ideal contrast to working in the IT industry. This will be either BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) or SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), which are social auditing methologies and reports but are not an accreditation. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Patagonia first made a fleece from recycled plastic bottles in 1993, since then more and more brands have been ‘recycling rubbish’ to make the high-performance clothing and equipment that we all love to rely on in the outdoors. However for less windy conditions the rain cover does keep the pack and contents dry and I find the cover useful as something to pull out and sit on when its not being used as a rain cover.

Powered by a holistic approach, bluesign® traces each textile’s path along the manufacturing process, making improvements at every stage from the factory floor to finished product. The main compartment is hydration compatible, or you can use the bladder slot for a laptop if you’re using it to commute. Shell started the Camping with Style blog after a serious snowboarding accident which left her with a broken back. Last but not least, this backpack includes a raincover made with PFAS-free DWR and bluesign® approved material. This allows plenty of air to circulate between your back and the backpack, which is especially useful for sports use. There are two mesh side pockets which are slightly larger and looser than on some similar sized packs which means they are easy to use for water bottles.

Whilst it fitted me perfectly (size 10 female), if you are alot taller or broader across the shoulders then it’s probably one to try on for comfort first. The longest I’ve walked with this pack in one stretch is 8 hours so far and it hasn’t irritated my shoulders or chest yet. It sits a little higher than I’m used to, but this hip belt isn’t there for weight transfer like you get with the heavier load luggers. The slim profile makes it suitable for city / commuting use and the integrated rain cover and hydration support are welcome in such a lightweight pack. Information is provided free of charge; it is every walker's responsibility to check it and to navigate safely. At 26 litres in capacity it can carry most of what would be needed for a day out in the hills, but perversely isn’t quite as spacious as the on-paper smaller capacity Vaude Skomer 24. Since its foundation in 1974, Osprey has had the same relentless spirit towards innovation and quality—values established by founder Mike Pfotenhauer back when he began placing his first stitches at age 16.
