Description

It’s fun in big open spaces where the Avata can achieve a distinct aircraft style of flying, but it’s awkward if you are in restricted airspace.

It also weighs comfortably under 500 grams and has a compact design, so transportation is made easy. If you live in a small lot, a crowded development, or an urban apartment, the Avata has less appeal. We’ll cover the controller in more detail in the next section, but the DJI Avata Pro View Combo comes with the DJI Motion Controller as the single means to control the Avata. In case of a fall, you can activate the turtle mode to bring the drone lying on its back to the starting position. The design of the Avata is a radical departure from the original DJI FPV, as this design has no folding elements, placing its blades inside protective rings.

The 155° FOV is only available when the aspect ratio is 4:3, and the video recording specification is 2.

Another new feature is that the diopter setting can be adjusted to your vision using 2 rotary controls. Those last ones feature two 1080p micro OLED screens that stream footage from the drone at up to 100fps, with latency as little as 30 milliseconds over DJI’s wireless transmission system, and they’re the ones I used. This might sound like a very specific problem to me, but it’s worth pointing out: I am someone who is nearsighted in my right eye and farsighted in my left eye.In addition to the built-in propeller guard, Avata features downward binocular vision and ToF infrared sensing for even greater safety. If you turn off EIS (RockSteady and HoizonSteady), the drone will embed all the gyroscopic data from its flight in the video.

The Avata also includes an ADS-B AirSense transponder; if you're flying above the treetops, the drone warns you when other aircraft are nearby. That said, it’s a slightly flawed design that is somewhere between an FPV drone and a Cinewhoop in functionality. Those costs don't include the FPV goggles, either, and you still need to put everything together once the parts arrive. The firm's engineering teams deserve an incredible amount of credit for making a small, high-speed drone that's very easy to unbox and fly.

The Avata has a useful amount of internal storage, about 20GB, which is enough to hold around 20 minutes of 4K60 footage. And, climbing is capped at just 6m/s irrespective of mode, where the FPV had no limit on climb rate in manual mode and 15m/s in Sport. The sensors also improve stability when flying indoors without a GPS assist—the drone is smart enough to slow down when it's flying in tight confines, a plus if you're trying to recreate the Tesla Gigafactory Cinewhoop tour video for fun or profit, or if you simply want to see if you can fly through your house without damaging anything. To elevate your flying experience, the Combo features DJI Goggles 2 with Micro-OLED screens, providing you with exceptional clarity. Now smaller, lighter, and equipped with Micro-OLED screens, so you experience outstanding clarity as you navigate the sky. When you use DJI FPV Goggles V2 with the 810p/120fps video transmission, the lowest video transmission latency is less than 28 ms.
